Week #12 - Essay Writing, CST's, Progress Grades

Hello Sophomores,

12 week grades close this Friday.  Continue to bring your best efforts into class.  Complete all of your assignments, do your reading(s), and write, edit, and revise your essay.  You must participate and advocate for yourself.

Tutoring/Office Hours - Tuesday after school or upon request
Poetry Club - Wednesdays at Lunch - attend/participate for extra credit
CST's are this week - Weds/Thurs - There will be an alternative schedule

Due Dates:
Nature of Man Essay - due 5/3.  Rough draft (page 1, minimum two paragraphs) due Friday 4/26
Independent Reading Selection - Critique/Mind Map - due Friday 5/17
(Have your Independent Reading with you EVERYDAY this week - take advantage of your time during testing to get ahead if you finish early)

Monday
* Class Activity - Handout
* Work Check - Nature of Man packet - Annotations/Notes/Questions
- this will be checked for full credit, partial credit, no credit
* Graphic Organizer - TEPAC - this will allow you to form your essay body paragraphs with appropriate evidence, concrete details, and commentary
*Opening paragraphs!

Tuesday
* Essay Writing - Use our class computers to work on your essay.
* Proof read, check for appropriate sources, write, edit, revise!
* Use your graphic organizer!

Weds/Thurs
* Essay Writing - Use our class computers to work on your essay.
* Proof read, check for appropriate sources, write, edit, revise!
* Use your graphic organizer!

Friday - Please note that this WRG is worth 50 points - most WRG's are 25 points.
- It would be wise to show up prepared, with specific questions, typed copies, and helpful intentions.
* FF/WRG - Read and Edit your group members Nature of Man essay drafts
* Check for effective introductory paragraphs, thesis statements, clear claims
* Note body paragraphs, MLA format, citations, sources,
* Have your WRG packet with you - follow protocol

Work hard this week.  Take advantage of the time being given to write, edit, and revise.
Make good decisions.  Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.  However, your last minute issues - are not mine.  With this in mind - advocate in a timely manner and when appropriate.
