Week #10 - Springing Forward!

Hello Everyone!

I am so glad you are checking in.  I hope your break was relaxing and has revitalized you to return to school inspired with ferocity and tenacity!  Look up those words if you need to!  ; )

We will be covering quite a bit over the next few weeks.  Please work hard and bring your best work.  Expectations are high.  Those who commit themselves fully will always see the expected results.  Please do not do mediocre work and then question why you are not achieving an A or B in the class.
I am essentially assessing you as "soon-to-be" juniors at this point.  Bring it.

Office Hours/Tutoring is Tuesday after school.  This is the time to discuss any concerns or issues.  If you want specific feedback concerning grades or assignments  - I am more than happy to assist you.  If you need to meet at another time that works best - please make sure to communicate with me.

Poetry Club on Wednesdays - Please attend...earn some extra credit!

Spring Break Extra Credit - extended to Tueday 4/9.  No late work accepted.

You must have your next reading selection (it must be approved by me) by Monday 4/15.  If you still have a book that you got from our class library - it MUST be returned immediately.  Other students may want to read it!

Here is our tentative schedule:

Monday
* Guilt Graph
* Read - Night Chapter 7 - Notes with quotes and significance
HW - Guilt Graph, Ch.7 notes and theme tracker Ch.6 will be checked Tues.

Tuesday
* This is a day to regroup and to make sense of our novel, the themes, and the significance.  Be ready with your theme trackers, quotes, explanations, etc..
* Night discussion
* HW - Finish Night - Chapters 8,9, Theme trackers for Ch.7,8,9 due Weds. Quiz coming soon.
* Theme Trackers ARE DUE ON FRIDAY 4/12.  They must be stapled, in order, completed well, and stamped to receive full credit.  Each tracker will be work 10 points. Without a stamp - the highest you can get is an 8.  So make sure your work (quotes) are legit - and are not just "taking up space".

Wednesday/Thursday
* Packet - Philosophies about Human Nature.  We will cover TWO more perspectives that will allow you to think more critically on your stance about human behavior.  Please take notes and pay attention as this will be very helpful for your synthesis paper.
* Socratic Seminar - Night, TED, Philosophies.  Please participate!
Again, take notes and pay attention as this will be very helpful for your synthesis paper.
* TED Talks
HW - Complete notes and annotations.  Prepare for FF/WRG

Friday
* FF/WRG - come prepared to participate, improve and assist.  You must have all necessary components to receive full credit. If you show without work you will receive a ZERO.

As you can see - there is a lot going on.  You will always get out what you put in.  Be an active participant in class, be heard, and share your insights and thoughts!  What you say matters!  I look forward to seeing your best during our remaining weeks together.

Be good.
