Hello Sophomores,
I hope this update finds you well and well read. You had quite a bit of time last week both in class and homework wise to make sure you would be adequately prepared for your book groups this week. Please make sure are prepared as you have been asked.
Office Hours will be both Monday and Tuesday this week. Any assistance you need is available from 2:15 - 3:30 p.m. If you have questions concerning your grade or would like opportunities to edit and revise previous assignments - please come and speak with me. A lot of your work has been returned to your folder. Please take the time to note your work and results - I advocate work improvement always.
There are five weeks left in the semester - we head to Winter Break in two weeks. Please work diligently. Be ready with your work and participate in class.
Homework each and every night is to read and prepare accordingly for your Book Groups. You should also be writing/reviewing your notes and character chart pertaining to TAM to prepare for your Socratic Seminars this week.
Rudy Francisco Extra Credit Reflection is due tomorrow - Monday 12/10. No late work accepted.
Monday - Book Group #1. Meet to talk, discuss, question, infer, share insight, notes, , vocabulary, quotes, annotations. Brainstorm potential projects that would/could be related to your reading. Due to many of the last projects being below par - this time around you will receive some project choices. You and your group must also plan your next readings and preparation for BG #2.
Tuesday - Lots of assessment today! Quiz and Socratic!
* "12 Angry Men" - Act I/Act II Quiz. Know the jurors, know the case, know the dialogue, know the plot. You may get to use your notes.
* You will also participate in a Socratic Seminar. Please have your notes and character chart to assist you with commentary and particpation.
Wednesday - "12 Angry Men" - Act III. Take notes, complete character chart.
* Prep for Thursday Socratic Seminar - TAM Act III
Thursday - Another day of big points! Quiz and Socratic!
* TAM - Act III Quiz
* "12 Angry Men" - Act III Socratic Seminar. Please have your notes and character chart to assist you with commentary and particpation.
Friday - Book Group #2.
* Meet to talk, discuss, question, infer, share insight, notes, vocabulary, quotes, annotations. Discuss your projects. How is your work related to the readings? Get ideas for improvement. Your work must be grade appropriate and worthwhile.
* You and your group must also plan your next readings and preparation for your final BG #3 - on Thursday 12/20
Please continue to read, write, and reflect critically. Be consist with your work ethic.
