Week #13 - Let's Get Angry!

Hello Sophomores...

Please take stock of your current grade and efforts in our class this week.  Make the necessary changes and accommodations to secure a semester grade that is true to your growth as a reader, writer, and critical thinker.  I know you can.

This week we read and discuss and read and discuss!  Yes...

You should also be reading your book for your Book Groups.  Read, take notes, question, and reflect.  Do a little each day - so that you and your peers can support each other accordingly. Learn from your mistakes and celebrate your succeses. The Book Group meetings and related project are worth 100 points.  Bring your best efforts.

In class we will be reading the play "12 Angry Men" - we will monitor vocabulary and understanding of terms, we will note how dialogue reflects characterization, and we will delve deep into the plot and themes of this amazing courtroom drama! Be present and particiapte every day.

Monday - Jury Vocab due.  We will review terms and finish discussing the anticipatory guide.  We will read "12 Angry Men" - Complete Act 1.

* Handout - character description graphic organizer. You will track each character and their decisions throughout the play.  Just like most people - some are able to listen and adjust - others remain stubborn and unwilling.

Tuesday - "12 Angry Men" - Act 1 - Socratic Seminar. Bring notes/handout

Wednesday - "12 Angry Men" - Begin Act 2 - takes notes - use your handout

* Poet Rudy Francisco will perform in the PAC on 12/5.  4th Period will attend.  If you are in 1st/3rd period you will need a permission slip.  Please ask me for one.
* Each class will have a different assignment this day.

Thursday - "12 Angry Men" - Complete Act 2 - Silently and Independently.  Take notes/handout
* Act 2 Socratic Seminar - Tuesday 12/11
