Week #7 - Perks, Socratic, Writing Analysis...

Hello Seniors,

Here is the schedule.

Monday
* SWT - Letters
* Finish "Perks...." - continue to take notes on similarites/differences, likes/dislikes

Tuesday
* SWT - Letters
* Prep for "Perks..." writing analysis - themes, prompts, ideas, organization

Weds/Thurs
* Socratic Seminar - use all resources
*** Make sure to cite specific text and/or dialogue from the book/film - you must note your evidence
*** Discussion points: Chbosky's style, theme(s), allusions, favorite lines, etc...
*** You must participate in order to receive credit - your comments should be useful and insightful

Friday
* To Be Determined

Opportunities for additional credit:
*** Wear RED on Monday 3/10.  Show your Senior spirit at the Pep Rally.  Do this...and I will raise one of your weekly Participation points for maximum credit.
Poetry Club - Weds at lunch
San Diego Slam Poetry - Monday @ 8 pm @ Queen Bee's in N. Park
Lyrical Exchange - Tuesday @ 8:30.  Queen Bee's in North Park

Office Hours - Wednesday - 2:15 - 3:30

Due Dates
***Socratic Seminar - Weds 3/12, Thurs 3/13. No attendance means no credit.
*** Typed Dear Friend Letters due Thurs 3/13.  Please proofread for clarity and no errors.
Please indicate the ONE letter you want me to read.  Highlight your attempts to imitate Charlie/Chbosky - sentence starters, diction, tone, style
*** 'Perks...." Writing Analysis due Monday 3/17 at the beginning of class.  No late work accepted.  Your draft must be typed, publishable, and error free.
You will receive a variety of prompts to choose from.  You will be allowed to use ALL of your notes, annotations, and handouts. You will have time to work on this in class.
